Maridean C Hotchkin was the daughter of Gerald and Martha Eames Hotchkin. She was raised in Grinnell and graduated from High School in 1954.
She was married to Larry Tharp on June 24, 1957 at the First Baptist Church in Grinnell. To this union were born five daughters; Janice, Susan, Diana, Patty and Deborah. They made their home in Grinnell.
Maridean worked at Cunningham's Drug Store, Grinnell General Hospital, Bates Flower Shop before retiring in 1999 from Golden Sun.
She was a faithful member of St Mary's Catholic Church, the Rebekah Lodge, the Eagles Club and the Red Hat Ladies Club. She volunteered at Second Mile and Grinnell Regional Hospice..1 She was buried at Westfield Cemetery, at Grinnell, Poweshiek County, IA, USA.

The 1900 census of Central City, Lone Tree Twp., Merrick Co., NE confirms her age and place of birth. Marjorie was married to Theo. O. Brown on 13 November 1915 at Mason, MI, by Rev George Newberry, and divorced on 9 June 1920. At the time of the 1920 census of Lansing, MI, Marjorie was living with her parents as Marjorie Brown. Dr Ralph Hobbs married Marjorie and Howard E. Beardsley on July 1923 at Lansing, and she later divorced him. She married for a third time to Ray H. Galligan on 14 May 1936. James Robert was adopted by Marjorie and Howard and after her marriage to Ray, James was adopted by him. Marjorie and Ray adopted a daughter Aletha Florence. Both children took the Galligan name.

Mark Caldwell Hotchkin
Mark appears in the 1850, 1860 and 1870 censuses of Sangerfield, Oneida Co., NY. At the 1850 census his father Eli is living with the family. The Assessment Rolls of Sangerfield, NY finds him there in 1839, 1844, 1847, 1848, and 1849. In 1843 he is listed as Mark Hotchkin and in 1845 as Marcus C. Hotchkin. Mark was the Grantee, in Oneida Co., on six real estate transactions between 1843 and 1862. The first was on 3 October 1843 where Abraham Smith Jr. granted property to Mark Hotchkin, Libr 110, p 395. The next, in 1845 gives his name as Mark C. Hotchkin and the last one was 9 April 1862 where he was the Grantee from Mary Geer. A newspaper clipping dated, 14 April 1855, says that he was elected a school trustee on last Tuesday evening at the Old Brick School House. The Sangerfield Register of Electors list him in 1867.
Mark is described in Walter's book regarding the Loomis Gang as one of 28 prominent citizens from Sangerfield, Marshall and Brookfield, who in 1865, rode over the hard, rutty road to Utica during a blinding snow storm to post sureties for their friend Sheriff Jim Filkins who was in jail for killing George Washington Loomis, during his arrest. The 1869 Gazetteer and Business Directory of Oneida Co. lists Mark as a saddle maker in Waterville.
His birth and death dates are determined from his gravestone in Eli Hotchkin's plot in the Waterville Cemetery, Waterville, NY, and by the published obituary.

William's Social Security records give his birth on 27 Dec, 1902 and Chicago Birth records give Mark's birth on 27 Jan, 1902. No birth records were found for William. The birth record for Mark says that he was a twin and the 3rd child of Mary Harrington Hotchkin (we don't know who this first child is). The age of Mary was given as 28 and that of Mark Daniel as 38.

The 1850 census of Newark, Tioga Co., NY finds Marshall, his wife Abigail and daughter Mary A.. Also living with the family was his sister Abby S. Summons 41, and Julia Burnett, 12. Stanley Harris has notes that his great grandmother, Phrinda Hotchkin Edwards compiled; saying that Marshall had heart trouble. She remembered Marshall and his sister, a maiden lady, driving from Otsego to Watertown to visit relatives and his wife, sister and daughter visiting at James St., DeWitt before Phrinda Hotchkin was married in 1851.
W. B. Gay, Historical Gazetteer of Tioga Co., NY says that Marshall was born in Newark Valley, NY on 18 May 1806; the son of Abraham; and that he died in Newark Valley on 24 May 1874. Gay gives Marshall's three marriages: first, to Juliaette Williams, next to Abigail (Harmon) Branch, and last to Mary Edwards Muzzy who was living in Newark Valley at the time of writing of his book, and a daughter by his first wife still living on the homestead of her father and grandfather. The death of this daughter, Mary, is reported in DAR records. The Compiler has confirmed the Gay information by a visit to the Hope Cemetery, Newark Valley and an inspection of the graves of Marshall, his three wives and daughter Mary A.3

Martha Hotchkin was born in 1826 at Lebanon, Madison County, NY, USA. Death Certificate identifies her as daughter of George and Sarah Hotchkin. She was the daughter of George M. Hodgkin and Sarah Meade. Martha Hotchkin married Zebulon M. Hinman in 1848. Martha Hotchkin died on 25 February 1899 at Sparta, Kent County, MI, USA.1 She was buried at Greenwood Cemetery, at Sparta, Kent County, MI, USA.
