She was also made Trustee of $300 for the benefit of her brother Charles; however he died before his mother. She is buried with her parents, as Mary A. Smith, 1848-1927.
There are several real estate transfers for Mary Hotchkin. On 14 September 1888 she sold a property to W. H. Carpenter, Libr 468 pg 412. On 24 September 1895, she transferred a property to her sister Sarah L. Bassett, Libr 519 pg 122; and on 2 April 1898 she transferred property to Mary F. Weigel, Libr 540 pg 308.
Before marrying Bradley P. Smith she must have had a marriage to a Mr Gage as that is the name in the 1901 marriage.2

Spencer at Greece, Monroe County, NY, USA, on 17 February 1876.2 Mary Ann Hotchkin appeared on the census of 1930 at Webster, Monroe County, NY, USA. The census lists the family as: Mary Ann Specer, age 80, widow, born NY, father born CT, mother born Canada, living with dau Mae Ida and her husband Charles H. Hadden.. Samuel Terry served as private in Captain Mead's company, Col. Henry Luddington's 7th regiment, Dutchess County militia. He was born in Fredericktown; died, 1813, in Carmel, N. Y.
John Dean served as private in Captain Baker's company, Colonel Luddington's 7th regiment, Dutchess County, New York militia. He was born in Connecticut; died in Pulteney, N. Y.
Daniel Bellows enlisted, 1775, and served as private in the 6th regiment under Colonel Parsons. He was born, 1723, in Southboro. Mass.
Mary was a graduate of the Franklin Academy and the Genesee Normal School, class of 1906, and studied at NYU. She was the original collector of much of the information on the Prattsburg families. Mary was an active member of the DAR and performed considerable genealogical research. She was Secretary of the NY State Officers Club DAR.
She taught school in Millerton, NY; North Tonawanda, NY; Nutley, NJ; Bloomfield, NJ; Rochester, NY; and in Prattsburg in her later years. She was a Director of the Prattsburg State Bank and Chairman of the Board for the Bath National Bank, and an elder and trustee of the Prattsburg Presbyterian Church. The Department of History, Presbyterian Church has a file of letters from William S. Cornwell to Mrs W. Harvey Hoag that are rather interesting from a genealogical viewpoint and are copied here as exhibits.
