     We know by Emelines Will that daughter Mary married a Smith and is buried in Sauquoit Valley Cemetery.
Mary was made executrix of the Will and left the balance of her mother’s estate after carrying out her mother’s wishes regarding the other members of the family. She was also made Trustee of $300 for the benefit of her brother Charles; however he died before his mother. She is buried with her parents, as Mary A. Smith, 1848-1927.
There are several real estate transfers for Mary Hotchkin. On 14 September 1888 she sold a property to W. H. Carpenter, Libr 468 pg 412. On 24 September 1895, she transferred a property to her sister Sarah L. Bassett, Libr 519 pg 122; and on 2 April 1898 she transferred property to Mary F. Weigel, Libr 540 pg 308.
Before marrying Bradley P. Smith she must have had a marriage to a Mr Gage as that is the name in the 1901 marriage.²

Mary Kahn, 87, a lifelong area resident, died on Sunday, March 22, 2009 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris, NY.
The daughter of the late William Meade and Pearl Grant Hotchkin, she was born on June 7, 1921 in Bittersweet, NY.
Mary was a member of the Liberty United Methodist Church and the Liberty Methodist Women's Group. She was a lifetime member of the Clarence Hoyt VFW Post #9217 Ladies Auxiliary and she also belonged to the Revonah Chapter OES #443 in Liberty.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, August Kahn of Liberty; a son, Fred Kahn and his wife, Kathleen of Liberty; two grandchildren, Lisa and James Phillips; three great-grandchildren: Skyler, Jared and Shanoah; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by eight brothers and sisters.
There will be no visitation.
Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope, NY.. She was buried at Grahamsville Rural Cemetery, at Grahamsville, Sullivan County, NY, USA.

     She remained unmarried. At the 1900 Census, Mary was living with her mother, brother Rick and a Jim Kennedy, identified as a step brother, who was born March, 1870 in IL. At the 1920 census she is living at 4529 Hazel St., Chicago, age 61 with 3 roomers. Her obituary says that she died in Indiana, was a Chicago Public School teacher and a life long resident of Chicago.

     The Early Settlers of NY, has a reference to Mary ( Mrs Pierson), North Baptist Church, Troy, NY. This references gives a baptism date of 1855. Her marriage according to the Troy Whig occured in 1856.⁴

Mary Elizabeth Hotchkin and Galen Madison Rowsey were divorced on 8 November 1933 at Jackson County, MI, USA. MI Divorce Records 1897- 1952. She married Donald Virgil Bushong at Auburn, De Kalb County, IN, USA, on 28 June 1935. Mary Elizabeth Hotchkin died on 16 March 1960 at Muskegon, Muskegon County, MI, USA, at age 55.      The Compiler and his wife paid Mary Ellen a visit and got a lot of family information. Unfortunely, I informed her that her father had a first marriage, a fact that she said her father had always denied.SS Applications show that on Feb 1946 she listed her name as Mary Ellen Roti.

Samuel Terry served as private in Captain Mead's company, Col. Henry Luddington's 7th regiment, Dutchess County militia. He was born in Fredericktown; died, 1813, in Carmel, N. Y.
John Dean served as private in Captain Baker's company, Colonel Luddington's 7th regiment, Dutchess County, New York militia. He was born in Connecticut; died in Pulteney, N. Y.
Daniel Bellows enlisted, 1775, and served as private in the 6th regiment under Colonel Parsons. He was born, 1723, in Southboro. Mass.

     Mary was a graduate of the Franklin Academy and the Genesee Normal School, class of 1906, and studied at NYU. She was the original collector of much of the information on the Prattsburg families. Mary was an active member of the DAR and performed considerable genealogical research. She was Secretary of the NY State Officers Club DAR.
     She taught school in Millerton, NY; North Tonawanda, NY; Nutley, NJ; Bloomfield, NJ; Rochester, NY; and in Prattsburg in her later years. She was a Director of the Prattsburg State Bank and Chairman of the Board for the Bath National Bank, and an elder and trustee of the Prattsburg Presbyterian Church. The Department of History, Presbyterian Church has a file of letters from William S. Cornwell to Mrs W. Harvey Hoag that are rather interesting from a genealogical viewpoint and are copied here as exhibits.

     Mary Frances Hotchkin is the daughter of Francis James Hotchkin and Dorothy May Jewell. She married Thomas William Brennan VII at Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, CA, USA, on 8 February 1958.¹

     Mary G. Hotchkin married Jeffrey S. Guehring on 13 September 1969 at Contra Costa County, CA, USA. Called Mary G. Hotchkiss in this marriage record but Holly's birth record calls her Hotchkin..¹
