He died on 13 November 1887 at Manhattan, Riley County, KS, at age 77. He died at the home of his son Morris.

They were the parents of Lydia Phillips, Mary Agusta Ferguson, Marjorie Young, Olive Anna Dodge, Thomas Weller Pickett, and Morris Pickett. In additon, a son and daughter died in infancy.. He was buried at Sunset Cemetery, at Manhattan, Riley County, KS, USA.

     Judy Kimball of Kansas disputes the Compilers marriage date for Anna and says that they were married in 1836 and Anna is the mother of all of the children. An Obituary of William Morris Prickett supports the date supplied by Judy. The appearance of Sarah and Hannah in the 1850 and 1860 census is still unexplained and marriage to Ludington may be an error although George W. and Fred G. Ludington were joint Excecutors of William's Estate.
