Banister's Company, Col. Shepard's 4th Regt. of the MA Line, during the Revolutionary War. He was held prisoner by the British for 8 months and 2 days before being exchanged. He died on 10 July 1827 at Shoreham, Addison County, VT, USA, at age 64.

The apple farm was purchased from his dad who got it from his dad sho got it from his sister Aunt Jennie (1840- 1921) .Sanford's great grandfather Royal Witherell had bought it in 1865 from the estate of his own cousin Royal Turrill.

The Compiler recently found a note in his mother's handwriting, on the back of an envelope and stuck in a Witherell genealogical history. This note said that Walter Witherell bought 80 acres in Section 28, Pleasant View for $240.00 and Charles Witherell bougnt 40 acres in Section 15 for $160.00.This would place them in Emmet County, MI at that time, but unfortunely my mother's note had no date for the purchase.
