According to his gravestone he had an earlier wife, Sarah (Sally) Moore, daughter of Dr. J. Morris Moore a doctor im Marple, PA. She was born 26 Aug 1857 in Marple, PA and died 5 Feb 1892 in Milton, VT. likely in her first childbirth.
Because of their relatioship to Marple, PA this is likely where the name of daughter Alice Hotchkin Howard came from as our famous minister Samuel P. Hotchkin lived here.
