Mrs. Hazen Hendrick, whose maiden name was Nina Elizabeth Convis, died of blood poisoning Sunday morning after an illness of 10 days. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Convis and was born in Caro, July 23, 1906. Practically all her life was spent in Caro, except for six years, when the family lived in Lansing. She was devoted to the work of the Methodist Protestant church of which she was a member from childhood. She served as a Sunday school teacher and was always willing to sing for church services or at funerals. She was united in marriage with Hazen Hendrick, May 29, 1926. Two children were born to the union, Hazen, Jr., aged two years, and Eunita May, aged 15 days. Besides the husband, two children, and her father and mother, she leaves two sisters, Mrs. Maurice Allen of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Alvin Stevens of Smiths Creek; two brothers, Claud Convis of Lansing and Howard Convis of Flint. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist Protestant church, under the direction of Charles Schriber, Rev. R.R. Terwilliger officiating, with burial in Caro Cemetery.

According to Dorothy Garlington, Douglas had heard the Rev. Charles speak at the Presbyterian General Assembly and began corresponding with him. They were married after the death of Eleanor and lived in a small house in Durant because she did not like living on the family farm. Douglas moved back to Morganfield about a year later as she could not adjust to the Missionary life. After the death of Charles, she signed a Quit Claim Deed for $100, transferring the house to Charles' children; Mary, Lucy, Charles, Joseph, and Cyrus. Since Cyrus was only 16, Charles F. was made his legal guardian.

She married William Henry Harrison Hotchkin at New York City, New York County, NY, USA, on 22 August 1861. The History of Jefferson County claims that the marriage was on 22 April 1861.4,5 Julia Pratt Cooke died on 1 November 1920 at Stamford, Fairfield County, CT, USA, at age 82. She was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery, at Orchard Park, Erie County, NY, USA.
She gave her name as Julia Pratt Cooke Hotchkin in a sworn statement made in regard to her Civil War Widows Pension and says that she married William H.H. Hotchkin on 22 August 1861 and that they were married by the Rev William J. Frost, Church of the Redeemer in the home of her parents on East 81st Street, NYC. Information on Julia's death comes from a sworn statement made by her sister, Frances M. Cooke asking for Reimbursement by the Civil War Pension Board. Francis said that she was a maiden sister and her age was 69 at that time, 22 August 1912. Frances M. and Julia lived together at 965 E. Main St, Stanford, CT.
