Frederick Eldon Hendrick died on 11 May 2015 at VA, USA, at age 85. Fredrick (Fred) E. Hendrick, age 85, succumbed to his fight with cancer Monday, May 11, 2015, at home with his loving family. Fred was born April 3, 1930, in Caro, Michigan. Fred was a graduate of Caro High School, Caro, Mich., and a graduate of St. Leo's College, where he graduated magna cum laude April 20, 1980.
Fred entered the U.S. Army originally April 1947 and after his 18-month enlistment, took his honorable discharge and went home. When Korea broke out and his brother was called back in, Fred re-enlisted in October 1951 and remained until his retirement as first sergeant of HQ Co. U.S. Army Quartermaster Center and Fort Lee in May 1970. He spent a tour in Viet Nam 1968 to 1969. He was in Korea 13 months and upon his return to the states was assigned to Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas, where he met his future wife, Betty, who had just re-enlisted in WAC. They married at the Post Chapel, November 5, 1955 and the vows made that day remained intact until Monday, May 11, 2015.
Fred was pre-deceased by an infant daughter, Lynn Marie; brother, Hazen (Jr.) Hendrick, who died as a POW in North Korea, his mother, Judy Sybert, stepfather, Arnold Sybert and father, Hazen Hendrick.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; two sons, David & Mark Hendrick of Prince George, Va; three granddaughters, Heather Sellers (CJ) of Aurora, Colo., Samantha Pritchard (Josh) of Dinwiddie, Va., and Kristal Hedge (Billy) of Hopewell, Va; five great-grandsons, Camden Pritchard, Roland Sellers, Michael & Brandon Long, Andrew Hedge; two great-granddaughters, Riley Sage & Raven Mara Sellers; one sister, Janice Damm of Caro, Mich; and two dear cousins, Robert and Don Mason of Ann Arbor, Mich; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Fred was a member of The American Legion, Hopewell Memorial Post 146. He previously was Commander of J. Thompson Wyatt American Legion Post 2, Petersburg, Va; American Legion 4th District Commander; Chef de Gare' Voiture 977, Petersburg, Va., and a member of DAV Chapter 47, Petersburg, Va.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, May 30, 2015, 2 p.m., Hopewell Memorial American Legion Post 146, 217 East City Point Road, Hopewell, Va.
Decedent in care of Cremation Society of Virginia, 1927 Westmoreland St., Richmond, VA 23230. 804-355-3360..

A.H. Higgins was called to Rochester the first of the week owing to the death of his mother, Mrs. James W. Higgins. He was accompanied to Rochester by Oscar A. She was 80 years of age, her birthplace being near Ashtabula, Ohio. Her maiden name was Harriet C. Hendrick. She spent her girlhood days in the vicinity of Cedar Run. Later she lived in Cass City and Bad Axe, and for the past 26 years has been a resident of Rochester. Mr. Higgins and four children survive her; Mrs. Alice Rose and Miss Matie Higgins of Rochester, Mrs. Norah Price of Oxford, and A.H. Higgins of Cass City; also one brother, Orson A. Hendrick of Cedar Run; and two sisters, Mrs. Chas. Bennett of Rapid River, and Mrs. Fidelia Runkle of Ashtabula, Ohio. Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon at 2:30, and the remains placed in a mausoleum at Rochester. Interment will be made in Elkland Cemetery in May..
