Jared (Jarrot) Edwards was born on 21 February 1746 at Benedict, Charles County, MD, USA. He married Rebecca Bell in 1807 at Edgefield, Edgefield County, SC, USA. Jared (Jarrot) Edwards died on 31 July 1832 at Edgefield, Edgefield County, SC, at age 86. He was buried at Edwards Family Cemetery, at Mount Willing, Saluda County, SC, USA.
Some sources list his parents as Joseph Edwards and Mary Ann __?__. Others list them as William Edwards and Ester Quinn. Jarrott came to South Carolina as a soldier in the Maryland line under General Gates, and was in the Battle of Camden, when Gates was defeated, 16 August 1780.
He was married first to Susan Porter of VA, who bore him four sons:

Rich Edwards, 3 slaves, the administrator for David Rich, 4 slaves, estate of William and Sarah Rich, six slaves. 1851 tax records show John Edwards in 207 District, also Isaac Edwards and S.A.E. Edwards with 15 slaves.From Genelogy Issue May 10, 1850 Dies in 38th. year of his age John Fletcher Edwards, son of the late R. L.Edwards. left a wife and seven small children.
