     Jared (Jarrot) Edwards was born on 21 February 1746 at Benedict, Charles County, MD, USA. He married Rebecca Bell in 1807 at Edgefield, Edgefield County, SC, USA. Jared (Jarrot) Edwards died on 31 July 1832 at Edgefield, Edgefield County, SC, at age 86. He was buried at Edwards Family Cemetery, at Mount Willing, Saluda County, SC, USA.

     Some sources list his parents as Joseph Edwards and Mary Ann __?__. Others list them as William Edwards and Ester Quinn. Jarrott came to South Carolina as a soldier in the Maryland line under General Gates, and was in the Battle of Camden, when Gates was defeated, 16 August 1780.

Jarrott married second, circa 1807, Rebecca Bell, daughter of Captain Benjamin Bell, who was killed in the campaign against the Cherokees in 1779.

John is not found after this census and his wife Drucilla is found in the 1920 census and the 1900 census. At that census she is Widow and living with son William R and wife Della in Atlanta, GA.

     John Fletcher Edwards Sr. was born on 24 October 1812 at Edgefield, Edgefield County, SC, USA. He was the son of Robert Lewis Edwards Rev and Isabelle Jones. He married Margaret Simpson Clark at Elbert County, GA, USA, on 22 August 1833.^1,2 He married Sarah A. E. Rich at Elbert County, GA, on 30 October 1838. John Fletcher Sr. must have lived in Elbert Co., GA as his marriage to Sarah is recorded there and Sarah is mentioned in the Will of her father William, recorded in Elbert Co., GA A John F. Edwards married a Margaret S. Clark, 22 Aug 1833 in Elbert Co., GA. Some Internet records from unknown source says that he came from Edgefield Dist, SC.

John was always spoken of as Fletcher. Records show he had a ferry on the Savannah River. Other records in the name of John. Also, Census records show he lived in Wellsboro, Pike and Goshen District, Elbert County. 1849 tax records show 1 poll, 2 slaves and as being trustee for S.A.E. Rich Edwards, 3 slaves, the administrator for David Rich, 4 slaves, estate of William and Sarah Rich, six slaves. 1851 tax records show John Edwards in 207 District, also Isaac Edwards and S.A.E. Edwards with 15 slaves.From Genelogy Issue May 10, 1850 Dies in 38th. year of his age John Fletcher Edwards, son of the late R. L.Edwards. left a wife and seven small children. Signed J T Edwards From daughter of the American Revolution books appear: Sallie M. Edwards, her father being John F. Edwards, her mother S.A.E. Edwards, her husband C. A. Mitchell.
