on July 30, 2004 at Mariner Health of Bethesda of Alzheimers Disease complications.
He was loved very much by his wife of 34 years, Marguerite, his son, Benjie, who died in 1976, sister-in-law Marilyn Tubman, sister-in-law Anne Gardiner and her husband, Donald, niece Kimberly and her husband, Lee Bowling, their sons Tyler and Grayson, other close relatives and many friends.

Bill’s avocation was playing his acoustic bass. He was a charter member of the Folk Mass group at St. Thomas the Apostle Church and played there for 26 years, stopping only when Alzheimer’s began to take a toll.
He enjoyed playing many years with a great group of friends who called themselves “Wild Mountain Thyme,” and whenever, wherever invited to sit in.
Bill also volunteered with the Montgomery County Special Olympics a number of years and was a favorite chaperone when the athletes went to the State Games.
He was a faithful volunteer at the Vietnam Veterans’ Wall with more than 4, 000 hours there. Twice the National Park Service named Bill its volunteer of the year, and, after his illness forced him to stop, he was awarded a special player in appreciation of his Outstanding Dedication and Service.
His other interests in life included golf, karate, sky-diving and his motorcycle. Bill’s wife will forever be especially grateful to the Rosemary Unit Staff at Mariner for the wonderful loving care he (and she) received from them.
