Shirley Hotchkin-Grant, 78, Winfield, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008, at Good Samaritan Village in Winfield with her family by her side. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008, at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday. The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m. Born Nov. 24, 1929, in Ottawa, Ill., she was the daughter of Clifton and Louise (Brooker) Snook. She worked in several area restaurants, as a checker at IGA, and as a meat wrapper at Prairieland Processing until her retirement. Survivors include her companion, Wayne Grant, Winfield; sons, Darrell Hotchkin, Burden, Stephen Hotchkin, Winfield, and Randy Hotchkin, Oxford; sister, Marilyn Sheely, Ponca City; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchidlren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin G. Grant; infant son, Kris Hotchkin; her two brothers, Vernon and Richard Snook; sister, Norma Snook; one granddaughter; and one great-grandson.
A memorial has been established for Hospice Care of Kansas. Contributions may be made through the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Miles Funeral Service, Winfield. On-line condolences may be made at www.milesfuneralservice.com.

She and Bob graduated in 1947 from OU, married in 1948 and established a home in Oklahoma City, later in Nichols Hills. Both were geologists and together they established B.R. Polk, Inc., an independent oil and gas company. They were founding members of the University of Oklahoma Energy Center and the OU Associates. Marjorie was on the Board of Directors of the OU Alumni Association and spent nine years on the OU Council. She was a member of many civic and social organizations: Casady Mothers Club, Geologists Wives Association, Early American Glass Club, Twentieth Century Club, Reviewers Clique, D.P. Chapter of P.E.O., Red Bud Women's Club, Tuesday Bridge Group, Oklahoma Art League, Oklahoma City Museum of Art, Oklahoma Historical Society, Oklahoma Heritage Association and The Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club. Marjorie was a member of the Nichols Hills United Methodist Church for over 60 years.
Marjorie was a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Richard Lee Soper; husband, Bob; daughter-in-law, Jeanne Minnett Polk; and great-grandson, Henry Robert Klos.
