The cause of his fractured ribs is not known. His birth date is given in the death certificate and confirmed by Social Security records. His death certificate says that he was a laborer in a tree orchard. His parents are given as William Sylvester Hotchkin and Emma L. Kinniman; which isn't exactly correct.
The 1960 City Directory of Billings, MT has him as a laboratory worker with Herb E. McLaughlin and his residence at the end of Bench Blvd. He is also listed in the 1962 directory, but by the 1963 directory, there are no Hotchkin's listed.
Emery had a number of real estate transactions in Meade Co., SD; the earliest being 24 November 1930 when he purchased 5 acres in the SE, NW of Sec. 9, T 5, R 5 from David Harlocker. A transaction on 11 September 1939 shows him receiving Lots 10, 11, 12 of Block 16, of Comstock, from Helen Hotchkin who is the daughter of his wife Minnie by her first marriage. This is the only indication that Helen used the Hotchkin name. This same property was returned to Helen by Quit Claim Deed on 16 January 1941. Emery had a transaction on 5 July 1961 where he sold a small parcel of land to the State for highway construction. On 9 June 1970, Emery and Minnie sold to Jarvis D. Davenport for $1.00, BK 300, PG 147. One of Emery's sales was recorded on 23 January 1964 when he sold a parcel to the Jack Pine Gypsies Motor Cycle Club. After Emery's death Minnie filed a probate petition with the Meade Co. court saying that she was the wife of Emery and entitled to his 1/2 interest in their Meade Co., SD property.
