She was the daughter of Noah Frank Hotchkin and Evilena Ann Granville. She married Edwin William Birkholm at Stevensville, Berrien County, MI, USA, on 27 November 1889. The attached announcemet was listed in the newspaper under a column of "20 Years Ago.".¹ Emma died on 11 February 1939 at Dowagiac, Cass County, MI, USA, at age 71.      Emma is mentioned in her brother Frank E. obituary as living in Eau Claire,MI at the time of his death in April 1928. At the 1870 census she is with her parents in Leslie, Rives Twp., Jackson Co., MI. The 1880 census of Charlotte, Newfane Twp., Niagara Co., NY. finds her with her parents at age 13. The place of her death is supplied by Junella Denslow Reep. Her marriage to Edwin W. Birkholm is recorded in Berrien Co. Vital Records. It says that the wedding took place on 27 November 1889 after obtaining the certificate on 26 November. They indicated that they both lived in Benton Harbor and both were born in Michigan. They were married in Benton Twp. by Rev Clement S. Lester, MG. Witnesses were Freavine Birkholm of Chicago and Nellie Rowley of Saint Joseph, MI. Edwin said that his father was Emil Birkholm and she gave her father as Frank Hotchkin. The records spelled his name as Berkholm.

     Attached is a possible marriage of Ernest in 1902. This person is unknown and for a number of reasons does not fit.

Thes records say that he had one previous mariage and she none. Married by Emit Mason minister of United Presbyterian Church..⁵ He married Katherine R. Metzger at Saline, Washtenaw County, MI, USA, on 15 May 1908. Ernest Hotchkin appeared on the census of 1910 at Ann Arbor, Washtenaw County, MI. The census lists the family as: Ernest Hotchkin, 35 (1874), married once, 2 years, farmer, both parents born in MI; wife Catherine, 43, Married twice, 6 children 6 living, born Germany, both parents born in Germany, naturized in 1883.. He was a Teamster in 1910. He died on 14 August 1914 at Universiry of Michigan Hospital, Ann Arbor, Washtenaw County, MI, USA, at age 39.

"Ernest Hotchkins of Ann Arbor, son of the late Frank Hotchkins of this place, died Friday morning at one of the hospitals in that city. The remains were brought here Monday and buried beside those of his parents. He is survived by his widow, and brother, Harvey Hotchkins.".^6,7,3 He was buried at Oakwood Cemetery, at Saline, Washtenaw County, MI, USA. Plot A-5.

     Ernest's birth is recorded in Washtenaw Co. Records, Vol 2, pg 50, and his death in 1914 records, page 23. A gravestone in his fathers plot, Plot #A-5, and burial records give his birth and death. He was married to Rosette Palmer on 16 October 1893 in Ann Arbor, MI by E.B. Pond, J.P. and witnessed by Anna Palmer of Saline and Frank Kennedy of Ann Arbor (Washtenaw Co. Records, Vol 7, pg 140, 1893). His parents were reported as Frank L. Hotchkin and Anna Lane; Rosetta's as Oliver Palmer and Anna Collum. On 15 May 1908 he married Katherine R. Metzgar Maurer at which time he said that he had been married twice before. The wedding was witnessed by M. J. Hotchkin of Milan and conducted by Theo. G. Rapsdorf. There is no information as to the identify of M. J. Hotchkin.

     Ernest Henry Hotchkin was born on 12 January 1906 at Torrington, Litchfield County, CT, USA.^2,3,4 He was the son of Walter Raymond Hotchkin and Mary (Minnie) Bushey. Ernest Henry Hotchkin appeared on the census of 1920 at Torrington, Litchfield County, CT. The census lists the family as: Hotchkins, Ernest, 14, b CT; living with grandfather Michael Bushey.. Heserved during the World War II. He enlsted on 23 September 1943 while living at Hartford, Hartford County, CT, USA. His enlistment notes said: " Ernest H. Hotchkins, born 1906, native of Connecticut, no branch indicated, Private, enlisted for duration, grammer school, vocational counselor, single, no dependents, height 00, weight 00.". He died on 2 February 1975 at Torrington, Litchfield County, CT, at age 69.^5,3 He was buried at Hillside Cemetery, at Torrington, Litchfield County, CT, USA.

     His listing in the Connecticut Death Index 1949 - 2001 calls hin Ernest Hotchkins, died 02 Feb 1975 at age of 69 years in Torrington, CT and never married. It looks as if Ernest used the spelling Hotchkins all of his life.
Social Security Death Index list him as Ernest Henry Hotchkins.

Ernest Twadell Hotchkin appeared on the census of 1900 at Guilford Town, Chenango County, NY, USA. The census lists the family as: Ernest L. Hotchkin, age 20, b 6-1879, NY, boarder with Harry H. Bowen. 23-63-11-44:. He resided at Guilford Town, Chenango County, NY, in 1900. He married Sarah J. Lown at Ulster County, NY, USA, on 28 October 1909. Ernest Twadell Hotchkin died on 13 March 1954 at Copake, Columbia County, NY, USA, at age 73.² He was buried at Copake Cemetery, at Copake, Columbia County, NY, USA.

     The Columbia Co., NY Grantee lists, dated 15 April 1929 show Ernest T. and his wife Sarah L. in the town of Copake. Ernest's death date come from his Will Probate. The 1930 Census says that he was a Railroad Telegrapher.

     Esther Hotchkin was born circa 1910 at Chicago, Cook County, IL, USA. Chicago Death Index says age 3 months. She was the daughter of John Francis (Jack) Hotchkin and Marie A. Schmidt. Esther Hotchkin died on 22 December 1910 at Chicago, Cook County, IL. Not with the family at the 1910 census. Age 3 months at death according to IL Death Index..¹ She was buried at Mount Greenwood Cemetery, at Chicago, Cook County, IL, USA.

Eugene Hotchkin appeared on the census of 1900 at Park Village, Yellowhead Twp, Kankakee County, IL, USA. The census lists the family as: Eugene Hotchkin, b Mar 1856, age 44, Single, b IL, parents born NY, Tank and Cistern mfg; sister Rovena, born May 1844, age 38, Single,no children, born NY, parents born NY, Dress Maker..      The 1900 census of Grant Park, Yellowhead Twp., Kankakee Co., IL finds him living with his sister Ravena or Rovena, born in May, 1862 in NY. The census says that he was born in IL but both of his parents in NY.

     Eugene George Hotchkin is the son of George William Hotchkin and Harriet Eunice Hammer. He married Beverly Hawkins on 6 April 1956.^1,2 He married Barbara Jean Crow (Fadness) at Mexico on 12 August 1959. According to Nevada Marriage Records they were married again Las Vagas on 25 Sep 1974..³ Eugene George Hotchkin married Misako Taylor on 26 June 1991 at Las Vegas, Clark County, NV, USA. He is called Gene G. at this marriage..³

She married Frank Afton Wythe at Charlotte, Eaton County, MI, USA, on 20 December 1910.      Family records and information from her children gives her birth as 22 March 1892. At the 1910 census she was in the home of David E. Dixon, Grand Ledge, Eaton Co., MI and gives her age as 18, which would confirm the year of her birth date as 1892. She was called Lelia in this census, and that is the name that she has been known by in the family. At the 1900 census of Central City, Lone Tree Twp., Merrick Co., NE her birth is given as March 1892. The Hendrick Family Bible gives 20 December 1916 for her marriage to Frank Afton Wythe.

     Eva was born at Aden, Sullivan County, NY, USA, on 19 December 1905.^1,2 She was the daughter of William Mead Hotchkin and Pearl May Grant. She married Arlie Joseph Sutherland at Hurleyville, Sullivan County, NY, USA, on 26 September 1925.³ Eva May Hotchkin died on 17 February 1976 at Schenevus, Otsego County, NY, USA, at age 70.¹ She was buried at Franklin, Delaware County, NY, USA.

     Eva May and Arlie were married in Hurleyville, NY by Rev George H. Cooley and the wedding was witnessed by Albert Hotchkin and Reva Sutherland.

     Evaline (Eva) Hotchkin was born on 8 June 1850 at Prattsburgh, Steuben County, NY, USA. She was the daughter of John Daniels Hotchkin and Esther Ann Wheaton. Evaline (Eva) Hotchkin appeared on the census of 1920 at Prattsburgh, Steuben County, NY. The census lists the family as: Hotchkin, Eva S., age 69, living with sister Susan and her husband Charles L. Saunders. 376 131 3 6. She died on 29 January 1944 at Prattsburgh, Steuben County, NY, at age 93.¹ She was buried at Prattsburgh Rural Cemetery, at Prattsburgh, Steuben County, NY, USA.

     She remained unmarried. The 1880 census finds her with her parents in Prattsburg, NY and calls her Eva. A childhood illness left her frail, but she lived to be 94 and stayed all her life with her sister, Susan caring for Susan's children.

     Evaline G. Hotchkin was born on 17 July 1867 at Delaware County, NY, USA. From a hand entry in a bible. She was the daughter of Seth Hotchkin and Fanny Twaddell. She resided at Cannonsville, Delaware County, NY, USA, in 1887. Evaline G. Hotchkin died on 27 January 1953 at Gillis Rest Home, Fitchburg, Worcester County, MA, USA, at age 85.¹

     At the 1880 Census of Liberty and the 1892 Census of Delhi, she was living with her mother and second husband Luther B. Hotchkin. At the 1900 census, she is a boarder, on Deposit St., with the Frank Holmes family; at the 1910 census, she is a housekeeper with the Homer Miller family in Ameram, NY, near her half brother George Luther Hotchkin. She remained unmarried.
