Jerome W Hotchkin
1830- 1904
1830- 1904
Jerome's obituary says, "The city loses one of its oldest and most esteemed residents. The deceased, who was born in the house next west of his present home, was without a doubt one of the best-known men in Onondaga County. He was a man of a kind and genial disposition. In all his dealings with his fellow man, he was upright and honorable. As a neighbor he is spoken of in a very feeling manner and characteristically speaking he was always ready to extend a welcome hand to those who needed assistance". The obituary adds, "His father William Hotchkin, came from Hartford, CT in 1818 and located on a large tract of land, which was partially wilderness at that time; he erected a dwelling in the vicinity of the house where his son was born. The family consisted of three children, the other two, Mrs. H. K. Edwards of Fayetteville and Addison Hotchkin of James Street, are still living. Jerome was married 49 years ago to Miss Blanchard of Fayetteville, NY, who still survives him; they’re being no children. The burial was conducted by Rev Isaac Swift and he was buried at Fayetteville, NY".
He is called W. Jerome in his obituary.

Hotchkin of Bridgeport; daughter Patrice Smith of Odessa; brother Edgar Hotchkin of Pasadena, Calif; seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.". He was buried at Andrews County Cemetery West, at Andrews, Andrews County, TX, USA.
The Compilers brother Jerry has lived in west Texas since 1968. He has been in construction, carpet retailing, auto body repair and harvesting. Jerry served in the Army in Okinawa during 1955 and 1956. In 1980 Jerry and Faith decided that they wanted to become Ministers. After their study program, they opened Faith Christian Outreach on the site of their mobile home park where they live. They supplied food and clothes to the hungry and disadvantaged. The church was closed in 1990 when they went full-time as missionaries and evangelists. For many years he ran a ministry in Mexico, where it was dangerous for non-catholic to operate. Jerry and Faith traveled and ministered in Jamaica, Mexico, Pakistan and India spreading the gospel. Jerry had said that one of their greatest adventures was spending two weeks in Albania. They also spent a lot of time in their motorhome ministering to churches in the United States.
Jerry had a busy and active life. During our young life, when we were both living with our parents, he was an auto painter and auto body repairman. After he moved from Lansing MI to Andrews, TX he bought and fixed up homes and ran a carpet store.
My last vist with my brother was in 2002 or 2004 when I invited him to join myself and my boys and friend on our annual Marlin fishing trip to Los Cabos, Mexico. He died in July 2005.

This seems to be John of Iowa but much information is incorrect and that John appears in a 1870 Iowa census. The marriage to Elizabeth would not fit.
