James Elliott Hotchkin's marriage to Sophia C. Webber is in the Berrien Co., Marriage Records and shows that they took out their license on 20 May 1886 and were married the same day in Benton Harbor. Both reported that they were 26 years old, both were born in MI and his mother as E.A. Grandville, and her father as C.J. Weber and her mother as unknown; and that neither of them had been previously married. According to her Death Certificate #828, Berrien Co. Vital Records, Sophia died of inflamation of the brain on 10 February 1907, and at that date was 37 years, 2 months, and 5 days old.

Phyllis was united in marriage to Darrell Hotchkin on September 21, 1963 in Winfield. The couple made their home in Winfield where Phyllis enjoyed being a homemaker, caring for the couple's children. In 1977, they purchased Davis Floral. The couple operated the floral shop until 1983 when health concerns forced Phyllis to retire. In 1991, they moved to Burden, Kansas where they remained until moving to Winfield Senior Living.
Phyllis was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed baking cookies, needlework, and working in her puzzle books. Phyllis devoted her life to her family, most of all, her husband and teenage sweetheart, Darrell. Her children and grandchildren were loved beyond belief. Being a wife, mother, and grandmother is what meant the most to her.
Her family includes her husband Darrell of Winfield; her son Kris Hotchkin and wife, Arlene of Burden; her daughter Terresa Stewart and husband, Larry of Burden; her brother-in-law Steve Hotchkin of Arkansas City; her grandchildren, Lynnda Pappan, Kris Hotchkin, Jr., Joann Martin, Dustin Orr, Tim Hotchkin, Sarah George, Christopher Owens, Chad Moya, LeaAnn Moya; her 19 great grandchildren; and her lifelong friend Sharon Darnell.
In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by a grandson Joshua Orr two granddaughters, Megan and Jennifer Hotchkin, and three sisters, Katherine, Connie, and Mary.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 31, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors during this time..

Hugo, Okla., May 26. -- Capt. W. A. Welch, a confederate veteran, was killed and five persons injured in a tornado at Talihina, 75 miles west of here, this afternoon. Eight business houses and 12 residences were destroyed and several other buildings considerably damaged. Captain Welch was killed when his residence was blown down and members of his family were injured.

William Anderson Welch was born April 23, 1836 in Morgan County, Alabama. He served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. He married Alice Walner, daughter of William M. Walner Dr. and Susan Carter, on April 12, 1865. William and Alice had four known children: Elizabeth (Betsy) Welch (c1866- ); Mattie Welch (c1866 - ); Robert Carter Welch (1868 - ); and Charles Arthur Welch (Mar 1871-1927).
William second married Beatrice R. Long on March 19, 1890 at Poteau, Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory. He third married Lula Pearl York on October 23, 1892 in Indian Territory.
William died at age 79 on May 26, 1915 in Le Flore County, Oklahoma and was buried at Old Talihina Cemetery, at Talihina, Oklahoma (LeFlore County). His grave indicates that he was a Confederate Civil War Veteran and a Mason.

Miss Mattie Welch left Monday for Tushkohomma, (sic) where she will teach in the Tushkahomma Female Academy. Miss Mattie is highly accomplished and the school should feel proud in securing her efficient services. We are sorry to lose her from our midst.
Capt. W.A. Welch made another trip to Bengal this week for the purpose of unloading a car of merchandise for his new store at that place. We, of Talihina, wish the captain every success in his new enterprise.

Duke worked as an equipment operator and was an avid fisherman. He served in the U.S. Air Force.
He was united in marriage to Genieve (Rohrbaugh) Welcher of Bridgewater, who survives.
Surviving, in addition to his wife and mother, are a daughter, born Pennie Leigh Welcher,in 1969; two stepsons, Tony Rohrbaugh and Danny Rohrbaugh; three sisters, Mary Gregory, Carolyn Knight, Debbie Thornton; and a brother, Rickie Allen Thornton. He is also survived by five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Cecil Eugene "Duke" Rohrbaugh.
A memorial service will be held at the Johnson Funeral Service Chapel in Bridgewater at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010, with the Rev. James Kite officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Service in Bridgewater.
At his request, his body has been cremated.
