She died on 9/5/2000. The other daughter adopted by the Hotchkins was Elizabeth. We called her Aunt Betty. She was not related to my mother, but my mother loved her dearly. > My mother seemed to indicate that there were some problems and did not seem to have had a very happy childhood. She had 3 or 4 much older step brothers, who were the sons of Charles and Grace. There is also some suggestion that she was in an orphanage and remembers having to dress up and look "appealing" when prospective adopting parents
> came to pick a child. I have a photo of my mother all dressed up at age 3 or 4, presumably in an orphanage.

> I actually found the information you are seeking on your genealogy site...my mother is listed as Dorothy Hotchkin and your site stated that she was listed in Charles Hotchkin's obituary as his sister, but you felt that was incorrect, All the information about my mother's marriage to George Brenton McClelland is there and also the time and place of her death at the Episcopal Church Home in Buffalo, NY. She died on 9/5/2000. The other daughter adopted by the Hotchkins was Elizabeth. We called her Aunt Betty. She was not related to my mother, but my mother loved her dearly. She married someone named Arthur O'Grady, a lawyer and had 2 children with him, Skipper and Nancy. Betty died of cancer and I remember her coming to our home in White Plains, NY and staying with us while she radiation treatment in NYC. I was about 4 or 5 at the time. I am now 77.
