Bert Burns died on 18 May 1942 at Grand Rapids, Kent County, MI, USA, at age 47. Stricken ill at his home about 3 am Monday, Bert Burns, 47, of 355 Scribner Ave NW, was taken in the police ambulance to Butterworth hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Dr Simeon LeRoy, coroner, said an autopsy disclosed death was due to a heart attack. The body was removed to the Rauschenberger mortuary. (From Grand Rapids Press Monday May 18, 1942 pg 2)

Bert Burns, aged 47, of 335 Scribner Ave NW passed away Monday. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; three sons, Albert and Robert Burns of Muskegon, and Martin of Grand Rapids; one daughter, Alberta of Grand Rapids; four grandchildren and four brothers. Mr Burns reposes at the Rauschenberger Funeral Home, where services will be held Wednesday at 2:30. Interment at Coopersville. (From Grand Rapids Press Tuesday May 19, 1942 pg 17).1,2
