MELROSE - James Arnold Robertson, 80, of Melrose died Monday, Feb. 16, 2004, at his residence following an extended illness.
Born in Jesup, Ga., Mr. Robertson moved to Melrose from Jacksonville. He was a member of Avondale United Methodist Church in Jacksonville and retired from Seaboard CSX Railroad in 1983 after 42 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Ionic Lodge 101, Scottish Rite and Morocco Temple.
Mr. Robertson is survived by: his wife of 62 years Dorothy Starling Robertson of Melrose; three daughters, Patricia A. Fowler and Cheryl R. Croft, both of Jacksonville, and Karen Suzanne Rinker-Kirkpatrick of Hamilton, Ga; three sons, James Wylan Robertson and Robert N. Robertson, both of Spring, Texas, and Royce Ramsay Robertson of Middleburg; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services for Mr. Robertson will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004, in Avondale United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jennifer Stiles Williams conducting the services. Interment will be at 2 p.m. in Riverside Memorial Park in Jacksonville under the care of Jones Funeral Home of Keystone Heights.2 He was buried at Riverside Memorial Park, at Jacksonville, Duval County, FL, USA.

Jasper Van Buren Robertson
JASPER V. ROBERTSON DIED TUESDAY A.M.
Jasper V. Robertson, age 72, died at his home last Tuesday morning at 12:30 o'clock following an illness of only a week, although he had been in ill health for the past two years.
He was a native of Bartow County but moved to Wayne County thirty-eight years ago. He was married three times, the first being Miss Sallie Edwards of Fairmount, GA., and unto this union six children were born and several months after her death he married Miss Emma Strickland and eight children were born to them.
He was a member of the Jesup Presbyterian Church where affiliated in September 1923.
The deceased was in the lumber business since moving to South Georgia and made his home in and near Jesup for many years.
Funeral services were held from his residence Wednesday morning at 10:30 o'clock with Rev. R. L. Whipple, pastor of the Jesup Baptist Church, conducting the services. Interment followed in the Bethlehem church cemetery.
Surviving the deceased besides his widow are twelve children: nine daughters, Mrs. Odessa Bacon, of Tampa, Fla; Mrs. Trudie Hires, Brunswick; Mrs. Lula Joyner, Doctortown; Mrs. Alma Mobley, Dunnellan, Fla; Mrs. Ruby Golson, Montgomery, Ala; Mrs. Shirley Hindman, Ft. Lawn, S.C; Mrs. Mae Lee of Sanford, Fla; Mrs. Claudie Jones, Jesup; and Miss Maudie Robertson of Jesup; three sons, Clarence C. Robetson, Jesup; Jasper V. Robertson of Brunswick; James Robertson, Jesup; one brother, Ben Robertson of Texas and thirty-one grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Wayne Funeral Home were the undertakers in charge.
Pall bearers were: Sheriff R. E. Warren, A. J. Harper, James D. Harper, R. Ben Hopps, L. T. Dent, Lawton Kicklighter..1,2 He was buried at Bethlehem Baptist Ch Cemetery, at Jesup, Wayne County, GA, USA.
