F, (April 1872 - )
Luella was born at MO, USA, in April 1872. Date from 1900 census. She was the daughter of Stephen D. Johnson and B. Cinderella (Cindella) Covey. She married Henry Hotchkin at Durant, Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory, USA, in 1889. Date from 1900 census, married 10 years.. Luella Johnson appeared on the census of 1900 at Denison, Grayson County, TX, USA. The census lists the family as: Julius Nading, dec 1828, 71, married 9 years, born MO, father born MO, mother TN, House Mover; wife Georgia, Jun 1871, 28, married 9 years, 2 children, 1 living, born MO, father born KS, mother born MO; son Walter, Nov 1891, 8, born Indian Territory, neice Luella Hotchkin, Apr 1872, 28, married 10 years, 3 children , 3 living, born Indian Territory, parents born MO, dress maker; grand neice Marie, Oct 1890, 9, born Indian Territory; grand neice Hazel, Oct 1893, 6, born Indian Territory; nephew (grand nephew) Fred C., Feb 1892, 1, born TX. Orphan John Stone, Feb 1898, TX..
The History of Bryant County Oklahoma gives her fathers name but not her mothers. This history says that she, her sister Georgia and brother John Daniel were orphaned when very young and left to be raised by friends and neighbors. The funeral records of her husband Henry say that they were divorced and gives her name as Luella Holuge (the uge is not clear and could be wrong). Ebenezer Jr. calls her Luella, but doesn't give a last name; however, on a copy of Ebenezer's notes furnished to the Compiler by Peggy Lou Clark Stephenson, the surname of Semple has been written in. In later reviewing the notes on the Bryant County History made by the Compiler he finds no reference to this family, and so doesn't know where the above information comes from. The 1900 census referenced in this family files calls Luella a niece instead of a sister-in-law. The Compiler still believes that his information is correct except the spelling of the Hilland surname as he can't find this family in any census using that surname. she is called Luella Norman by the WA Death Index which for some reason lists henry's Death and the names Luella Norman and their daughter Marie J. Hotchkin Baldwin.
Mary Semple Hotchkin calls her Luella Johnson of Wynnewood.Several other old files use the name Hilland or Hyland. She is called Luella Norman in her daughter Marie Death documents.
Luella Johnson is shown in the 1880 of Folker, Clark County, MO as the daughter of S. D. Johnson and Cindella. She is age 8 at this census.
She is called Luella Norman in the WA Death Index of her daughter Marie Jane Hotchkin Baldwin. This must be a married name.
