He married Mary Jane Smith at Harbor Springs, Emmet County, MI, USA, on 15 May 1941.      Joe and Mary Jane lived on a farm located on Pleasant View Road, north of Harbor Springs. Their property is now a major ski resort for that area. Joe served in World War II as TEC5 and then worked many years as a foreman at Michigan Tanning Co in Petoskey.
He is called Joseph Jr. at the 1930 census.
