She taught school in Dover Plains, NY, Walden, NY and New Jersey before her marriage to E. B. Brown. In 1929 she became Principal of the high school at Mountaindale, NY, a position that she held until 1940. At that time, she quite full time teaching and served as a substitute teacher in the Liberty Public Schools. She was an officer in the Order of Eastern Star, President of the Liberty Garden Club, the first president of the Liberty Parent-Teachers Association, and a founder and committee person of the Liberty Youth Activities Council.7,8,9
