Our Dad was an honorable gentleman of iron will, a man among men. Whether in the oil fields of West Texas and New Mexico, or flying fighters in 3 wars in Asia, our Dad had the respect of those around him.

After a 30 year career in the Air Force, he retired to spend the next 35 years raising cattle.

The Colonel, as most called him, was a principled man of high moral standards and had a genuine compassion for all animals.

If you cry, it will be for yourself,
for I am free."

The family will receive visitors from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 24, 2007 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be held 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 25, 2007 at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, TX.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, 1700 N.E. 63rd Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73111.1 He was buried at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, at San Antonio, Bexar County, TX, USA.

The census lists the family as: Violetta Hoadley, birth Aug 1847, age 52, married 32 years is a Servant in the Ernest Tyler family. Living with her is her daughter Minerva B., birth Sep 1888 and son Rufus A., birth Jan . The census says that she had 13 children of which 10 are living.. She died on 24 February 1914 at Silver Creek Twp, Cass County, MI, USA, at age 66. Data from internet posting.. She was buried at Riverside Cemetery, at Dowagiac, Cass County, MI, USA.
