Born in Bedford County, VA, Gladys was the second oldest, second daughter, of 13 children. She was particularly close to the youngest of the 4 sisters, Margaret, who passed two years after her. She was a lifelong nurse, working at Culpeper Memorial Hospital and then after retirement, locally as an in-home nurse.

She was the beloved mother of Fannie Mae Pr***z and Peggy Louise Hotchkin Bailey. Peggy predeceased her mother by 13 years. Gladys never fully recovered from that loss. Peggy is also buried at Fairview, very close to Gladys and Margaret.

At the time of her passing, Gladys had three grandchildren and one great grandchild. Her grandchildren were Fannie Mae's son, Glenn, and Peggy's daughter and son, Pennie and Aaron. Her great grand daughter is Glenn's child, Julie. Julie is named after both her grandmother and her great grandmother, with a middle name of "Mae".

Gladys took on the role of mother after Peggy's passing, raising Pennie to adulthood.

She passed at Culpeper Memorial Hospital on June 6, 1994, at the age of 81, having lived a full and inspirational life. Her family miss her everyday and look forward to the day when we will be reunited..
