Olive Mae Murphy

     Olive Mae Murphy was born on 17 September 1907 at MI, USA. She married Lloyd Zelner on 25 July 1925 at Dowagiac, Cass County, MI, USA.1 Olive Mae Murphy and Lloyd Zelner were divorced on 11 July 1934 at Cass County, MI, USA.2 Olive Mae Murphy died on 22 September 1982 at Jefferson Twp, Cass County, MI, USA, at age 75.

There is no gravestone for Ollie. Olive was cremated and her ashes are buried 1 foot back of stone on Lot 8 Block 88 Grave #4. Her ashes were interred on Oct. 5, 1982. (Information obtained in 2014 from cemetery records on site.) She is next to her brother John Jay Murphy #131702759.
Olive was married three times.
She married Lloyd Zelner (1906-1975) on July 4, 1925. They divorced July 11, 1934 having no children.
She then married Ralph Jarvis on August 3, 1934 in South Bend, Indiana.
Olive and Ralph Jarvis had two children: Jerry Lee Jarvis (1935-1935) and Zed "Dick" Jarvis (1938-1992).
Olive and Ralph Jarvis were divorced March 20, 1942.
Olive married her last husband Winfield F. Williams on May 15, 1942 in Dowagiac, Michigan. They moved to Arizona together where "Win" operated a filling station in the Phoenix area. Date of divorce unknown but Olive lived in Arizona for about 10 years. Olive returned to Dowagiac where she worked downtown at the Fair Department Store as a sales lady. She could play the piano and she always placed flowers on her baby Jerry Lee's grave site.
Before Olive passed away at the care facility she had been living alone in a house in Dowagiac, Michigan.

Edwin Murray Found Dead in Bed Yesterday Morning at Home of Daughter, Mrs. H Hanover.
While apparently in the best of health, edwin Murray, the father of Mrs. Harry Hannover of this city died suddenly, Monday night from an attack of heart trouble. His lifeless body was found lying in bed at 7:00 o'clock yesterday morning. the hours previous to that time. Mr Murray had been feeling unusally well this winter. He was subject to heart trouble but had not suffered from an attack for some time. His suddn death cause as a severe shock to his daughter and family.
The remains were taken to shellsburg this morning the former home of the family and the funeral was held at 1:20 o'clock this afternoon from the Baptist church. Rev Bryden conducted the services. The interment was in the shellsburg cemetery beside wife who passed away four years ago.
Came to Iowa from Ohio.
Mr. Murray was 72 years old. He was born March 2 1842 at Columbus Ohio. He was a veteran of the Civil war serving in an Ohio regiment. About 22 years ago the family came to Iowa arriving in Linn county. From there they moved to Urbana and a year later went back to Ohio. Eighteen years ago Mr. Murray came to Center Point living there a year and then to Shellsburg and made that city his home until the death of Mrs. Murray, then which time he had lived with Mrs. Hanover.
There are four children left to mourn the departure of a kind and indulgent father. They are William Murray living at Palo., Mrs. Tom Nelson and Mrs. Hanover of Vinton and Abijah Murray of Shellsburg-Mr.Murray had been a faithful member of the Baptist church a member of years.

Robert Bruce Murray died on 25 December 1925 at Palo, Linn County, IA, USA, at age 85. Robert Bruce Murray was born on July 29, 1840 in Franklin County, Ohio. There he grew to manhood. At the age of 21 years he responded to the call of president Lincoln for 300,000 volunteers. He enlisted for three years in Company G, 46th Ohio Infantry. He was honorably discharged at the expiration of this period, but immediately re-enlisted for the remainder of the war. Mr. Murray took part in twenty-seven battles and was with Sherman in his march to the sea. He was mustered out of service at the conclusion of the war at Louisville, Ky. At this time he decided to see his brother who lived in Iowa (Alexander) and came to Cedar Rapids. He then moved to Palo and made his home finally at the place where he died about five miles northwest of Palo in Lewis Bottom Community. He was married to Serepta McClintock on January 16, 1868. To this union were born eight children. Two died in infancy and the others with his wife mourn his death. The children are John C. and Edna, at home. Mrs. A.J. Hoglan of Center Point, Mrs. Ed Penrose of Backus, Minn., Mrs. Will Voris of Shellsburg and Mrs. J. H. McNiel of Cedar Rapids. He confessed his faith in God and accepted Christ as his Savior over thirty years ago. He has been a staunch and loyal member of the Methodist Episcopal church during these years and was united with the great church triumphant in death which came to him at the age of 85 years, 4 months and 27 days on December 25, 1925. Thus ends the earthly career of another of our great patriots of the Civil War. Thus has he answered the summons of the Great Captain of our faith. His warfare ended, he rests in peace.

     Mary Muzzy was the third wife of Marshall. Her parents came from Worchester County, MA in 1796. Mary's obituary, published in the Owego Gazette, said that she was one of the oldest members of the Congregational Church, having joined in 1831. She died of heart disease at her home on Main Street in Newark Valley.11
