Crispen Sydney Moorehouse married Joyce Hughes in 1961 at Ashville, Buncombe County, NC, USA. Crispen Sydney Moorehouse married Theona Novella Cable on 20 May 1977 at Gate City, Scott County, VA, USA. Crispen Sydney Moorehouse died on 6 December 2015 at TN, USA, at age 73. Crispen Sydney Moorehouse, 73, died on Sunday, December 6, 2015 at Holston Valley after a brief illness.

Cris was born June 25, 1942 in Kingsport, where he was raised and lived most of his life. He retired from Eastman Chemical Company in 1996. Cris was a Vietnam veteran and was active in Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 979, as well as the Tennessee State Council Vietnam Veterans of America, Inc., and a member of American Legion Hammond Post #3. He was a member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church and the Pairs and Spares Sunday School class. Cris participated in the Dobyns-Bennett Class of 1960 First Friday Lunch.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Myrtle Moorehouse.

Cris is survived by his wife, Theona Cable Moorehouse; his brother, Evan and wife Laverne; his sister, Sue and husband David Cumbow, and their families; Theona’s sisters, Marie Buckingham, Joan Anderson, Connie Latner, and Sherri Hale; and Theona’s brother, Lowell Cable, and their families.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, December 9 at Mountain Home National Cemetery with Military Rites by American Legion Post 3/265. Those attending the service are asked to meet at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, 117 E. Charlement Ave., Kingsport, at 9:45 a.m. for procession to the graveside.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 9 at First Broad Street United Methodist Church, 100 E. Church Circle, Kingsport, with Rev. Joe Green officiating. The V.V.A. Chapter 979 will conduct honors prior to the memorial service. The family will receive friends after the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Broad Street United Methodist Church, 100 E. Church Circle Kingsport, Tennessee.. He was buried at Mountain Home National Cemetery, at Johnson City, Washington County, TN, USA.

     Cris Moorehouse was born in Kingsport, Sullivan Co., Tennessee in Holston Valley Community Hospital. Shortly after he was born the family moved to Oak Ridge, Tennessee where his father, Glen Moorehouse, had been transferred by Eastman Kodak. Kodak had been ask by the US Government to construct the facility there. The family lived in Oak Ridge until after WWII when in 1946 Mr. Moorehouse was transferred back to Kingsport by Eastman Kodak. When they left Kingsport the Moorehouse family had just moved into a house on Virginia Ave. When they moved to Oak Ridge the house had been sold and they had bought a lot on Valley Street. When first returning to Kingsport they rented the first floor of a house owned by Myrtle Fields Moorehouse's mother, Ida Virginia. Here they lived for about two years until their house on Valley Street was built. They moved here in 1948 and Cris lived here until he was married in 1961. He married Joyce Hughes and they moved into an apartment on Woodside Drive. Cris started to work for Kingsport Electric Company as a light bulb salesman. He worked here until 1964 when he quit to began working at Eastman Kodak. In 1966 he joined the USAF and was sent to Amarillo, Texas for basic training. He then was moved to Columbus AFB in Columbus Mississippi where he was stationed for almost three years. Karen Michille Moorehouse was born in Columbus AFB Base Hospital in January 8, 1968. After several TDY trips in support of the USAF in Southeast Asia Columbus AFB was closed and Cris was transferred to Thailand to Utapho Royal Thai Air Force Base. After his return to the US he was Honorably Discharged from the USAF. Cris returned to Kingsport and once again started working for Eastman. In 1971 he and Joyce were divorced. She soon married and moved to North Carolina and then to Florida. Cris remained in Kingsport and continued working at Eastman. In 1977 he met and Married Theona Novella Cable on May 20. He soon transferred to the Research Division of Eastman and returned to School and completed Eastman requirements and was promoted to Technician. Cris was a Technical Associate when he retired.

After 33 years Cris and Theona retired from Eastman. The now live at 1304 Dupont Drive in Kingsport in a house they built and moved into in 1982. Since they have retired they have enjoyed traveling and Cris has started working with Debbie Garza, his cousin, on the genealogy of the Moorehouse family, with help from all my cousins on the Fields family genealogy, and have compiled information about Theona's mothers family, the Stout's.

Mr. Glen William Moorehouse, 94, of Jonesborough, Tn. died Saturday, December 3, 2005 at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital.

Mr. Mooorehouse was the son of the late William Sydney and Carrie Edna Hinderliter Moorehouse. He was born on March 29, 1911 in Dodge City, Ford County, Kansas.

He retired from Tennessee Eastman Company in 1976 after 47 years of service. He was also a member of the Tennessee Professional Society of Engineers, National Society of Professional Engineers. He also was a Thirty Second Degree Mason of Lodge #688 F&AM in Kingsport. Mr. Moorehouse was a member of the Jonesborough Presbyterian Church.

In addition to his parents Mr. Moorehouse was preceded in death by his first wife; Myrtle Ledana Fields Moorehouse, and four brothers; George Leonard Moorehouse, Roy Victor Moorehouse, Robert Earl Moorehouse, and Richard Craig Moorehouse.

Survivors include his wife Gwendolyn Hampton Moorehouse of the home, two sons; Glen Evan Moorehouse, Big Canoe, Ga.,and Crispen Sydney Moorehouse, Kingsport, one daughter; Gwenda Sue Moorehouse Cumbow, Piney Flats, two stepsons; Adam John Epstein, Nashville, Tn., and David William Epstein, Alexandria Va., two sisters, Margaret Ruth Bray,of Kingsport and Elsie Louise Sutphin, Charlottesville Va., six Grandchildren, ten Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Moorehouse will be conducted 2 pm, Tuesday, December 6, 2005 at the Jonesborough Presbyterian Church with Rev. Beth Yarborough officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 pm till 2 pm, at the Church, prior to the service. Graveside services will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Kingsport at 3:30 pm following the funeral service.

Elnora Morgan Finch
Elnora Morgan was born July 25, 1872, in Clay county, Kansas, and died at her home in Gladwin, June 16, 1917. She moved with her parents to Michigan when a child, and was united in marriage to Russell E. Finch, M. D., March 5, 1893. She is survived by her mother, Mrs. S. R. Morgan, two sisters, Mrs. John Morrison, of Midland, and Mrs. Bertha Coats of Wilmot, Mich; one brother, F. F. Morgan, of Ashtabula, Ohio; her husband and two daughters, Wanda, aged 20, and Irma, aged 13; another daughter, Ruth, having preceded her one year and six months.

A most conscientious Christian mother and neighbor, she won to herself a large circle of friends who caught the inspiration of a devoted Christian service. Her consistent life shines with a splendor that will live on in the hearts of those who knew her best. "She, being dead, yet speaketh." Services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home by the Rev. J. H. Cornelius. Interment in Highland cemetery. Relatives from out of towns attending the funeral were: Mrs. Bertha Coats, Charles Hendrick, Mrs. Lydia Fifer of Wilmot; Mrs. Ben La Grow and Mrs. Robert Orr of Swan Creek.. She was buried at Highland Cemetery, at Gladwin, Gladwin County, MI, USA.

     Talma Hendrick called her Nora.
