Teresa Ohnemus was born Sept. 30, 1888 in Warren County and died July 8, 1982, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines. She was the daughter of James and Rose McLaughlin.

She was married to Joseph Ohnemus on Feb. 5, 1907. They were the parents of nine children; Sister Aptonia of Milwaukee, Wis., Mary Barger of North Carolina, Esther Calbert of Dallas, Mildred Shurman of Indianola, Luella Wadle of Indianola, Ina Dittmer of Milo, Ruth Dittmer of Lacona, Wilma Wadle of Lacona, and one daughter who preceded them in death, Genevieve Ohnemus.

Teresa is also survived by 36 grandchildren; 71 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and three sisters.

Teresa lived in Warren County until she married in 1907 at Churchville and moved to Bauer where she resided on a farm for 42 years.

Her husband died in November, 1948 and in April 1949 she moved to St. Marys to be a housekeeper for Father Charles Phelen. After two years she moved to Des Moines and resided there for 30 years before moving to her daughter's home. She later went to Westview Care Center, where she had lived for the past six months.

Funeral services were conducted by Father Charles Phelen and Father Frank Nugent at St. Joseph's Church in Bauer. Burial was at St. Joseph's Cemetery.. She was buried at Saint Josephs Cemetery, at Baurer, Marion County, IA, USA.

     She married James Douglas Thayer at Los Alamos, Los Alamos County, NM, USA, on 16 October 1983.¹
