Stephen Jacobserved in the Capt John Mercy Company, Wait's Battalion of Vermont Militia, during the Revolutionary War. Hon. Stephen Jacob of Windsor was born in Sheffield, Mass., graduated at Yale in 1778, came to Bennington, Vt., that year, and read a poem at the first celebration of the Battle of Bennington, August 16, 1778; married Pamela Farrand in 1779, and came to Windsor in 1780. He had, before admission to the bar, studied law with Theodore Sedgwick of Massachusetts. In 1781 he was a representative from Windsor, and again in 1788 and 1794, and was clerk of the House in 1788 and 1789. He was a member of the able council of censors of 1785, delegate in the constitutional convention of 1793, chief judge of Windsor county court 1797 to 1801, and a councillor from 1796 to 1802. Mr. Jacob was brave and energetic in quelling the Windsor county insurrection in 1786, and in 1789 was a commissioner in settling the controversy with New York.

Bennett Thomas James appeared on the census of 1930 at San Francisco, San Francisco County, CA, USA. The census lists the family as: Bennett James, 43, married at 22, born CA, father born IL, mother born CA; wife Hazel, 36, born OK, parents born OK, married at 19; dau Dorothy, 16, born CA.. Birth date and location found in September 1931 shipboard passenger list of the President Madison sailing from Shanghi, China to Seattle, WA. Birth date given is 24 Oct 1885 Independence, KS.1,2 He was a Commander, andserved in US Navy, during the WWI and WWII. He graduated from the US Naval Academy in 1908 and spent 2 years in the fleet and then was commissioned as an Ensign. He served in WWI in the North Sea aboard a minesweeper and was awarded the Navy Cross. He spent 30 years in the Navy and retired in 1938 as a Commander. He was recalled in WWII and served the duration of the war becoming a Commodore and retired at the end of the war at a permanent rank of Captain. He appeared on the census of 1910 at USS Minnesota, US Naval Forces, USA. The census lists the family as: Charles M. James, 24, single, born KS, father born VT, mother born IL.. He married Beatrice Collins, daughter of Harry John Collins and Jeanette (Netty) Matilda Hotchkin, on 24 April 1913 at Kitsap County, WA, USA.3 Charles Milford James died on 11 July 1980 at Seattle, King County, WA, USA, at age 94.1,2 He was buried at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, at Seattle, King County, WA, USA.
