     Clarinda was born at Richmond, Berkshire County, MA, USA, on 23 December 1786.1,2 She was the daughter of William Grover Gaston Capt. and Naomi Tilden. She married Elias Hochkin at Richmond, Berkshire County, MA, on 8 November 1807. Marriage of Elias and Clarinda Gaston recorded in Vital Records, Richmond, MA and shown in Shepard Probate Records. Their "Intention of Marriage" was recorded in Richmond Town records..3,4 Clarinda Gaston died on 23 January 1819 at New Haven, New Haven County, CT, USA, at age 32. Her obituary in the Connecticut Curant on 2 Feb 1819, Hartford, CT says that death dates was 24 January..5,6 She was buried at Grove Street Cemetery, at New Haven, New Haven County, CT, USA.7

     The marriage of Elias and Clarinda is recorded in Richmond Vital Records and records of the Little Church on the Hill, Lenox; Shepards Probate Records give a marriage date of 11 August 1807 and LDS records, 8 November 1807.      Information on her birth and death was found at the Connecticut State Library under file New Haven 215, Cemetery P.218, Hotchkin, Clarinda, died 23 January 1819, age 33.4

He married Abigail Bates Strong at CT, USA, on 30 October 1850.3 Nelson Hotchkin Gaston was a West India Merchant in 1855. Nelson died on 23 December 1856 at New Haven, New Haven County, CT, USA, at age 52.4,3 He was buried at Grove Street Cemetery, at New Haven, New Haven County, CT, USA.

     The Strong Family Genealogy furnishes information on Nelson, his wife Abigail Bates Strong and their three children. This book says that he was a West India Trading Merchant. Massachusetts Town Birth records give his birth date as 12 June 1808 in Richmond.1

His wife was listed as a widow in her fathers Will, date April 1827..5 He was buried at Grove Street Cemetery, at New Haven, New Haven County, CT, USA.

     The marriage of Tabitha and William is recorded in the Richmond, MA Vital Records. Their residences are given as Richmond and New Haven, CT. William's sister Clarinda married Tabitha's brother, Elias.
