     Robert L. Edwards was born in 1844 at Elberton, Elbert County, GA, USA. He was the son of Joseph Tarpley Edwards Rev. and Caroline Tatum Clarke.

     Robert was born at GA, USA, on 17 October 1867. Birth date in cemetery records.¹ He was the son of Allen Cleveland Edwards and Melissa Jane Kirk. Robert died on 20 March 1933 at Acworth, Cobb County, GA, USA, at age 65. Death date in cemetery records.¹ He was buried at Mount Zion Baptist Cemetery, at Cobb County, GA, USA.²

     Robert was born at Newberry, Newberry County, SC, USA, on 10 March 1784. He married Isabelle Jones in 1808 at Elbert County, GA, USA. Robert Lewis Edwards Rev married Mary Hill Daniel in 1827 at GA, USA. Robert Lewis Edwards Rev appeared on the census of 1830 at Elbert County, GA. The census lists the family as: Robert Lee Edwards, (males) 1 under age 5; 2 age 10-15; 3 age 15-20; 1 age 40-50; (females) 1 age 15-20; 1 age 40-50. (Male slaves) 1 under age 10; 1 age 36-55; 1 55-100; (female slaves) 3 under age 10; 1 age 10-24; 2 age 36-55, 1 age 55-100. 1840 Census, Elbert Co., GA, 190 Dist., pg 174; Robert Lee Edwards, (males) 2 age 20-30; 1 age 50-60; (females) 1 age 20-30; 1 age 50-60; 1 age 70-80. Free colored persons, (male) 1 under age 10; 2 age 10-24; 2 age 24-36; 1 age 36-55; (female) 4 age 10-24; 1 age 24-36; 1 age 36-45; 2 age 70-80.. Robert died on 18 April 1849 at Barrettsville, Dawson County, GA, USA, at age 65. He was buried at Old Salem Methodist Church Cemetery, at Barrettsville, Dawson County, GA, USA.

     The 1830 and 1840 census indicates that Robert and his wife had 6 sons and one daughter. One son born about 1828, two born 1815 to 1820 and three born 1805 to 1810. The daughter was born 1810 to 1815. The family had a total of 10 slaves; only 5 of which were of working age. By the 1840 census only 2 sons were still at home, these being born 1800 to 1820; the daughter, born 1800 to 1810 was still with the family. An additional female, possibly one of their mothers, born 1860 to 1870 was now with the family. This census only listed the free colored persons 14 of these people total 11 were likely of working age. Robert has not been identified prior to or after the 1830 and 1840 census. At the 1840 census, Robert and his son John were living on adjacent properties. John was originally identified as the son of Robert Lee from family information held by Vines Preston Edwards.

     Robert McKendree Edwards was born in August 1819 at Elbert County, GA, USA. He was the son of Robert Lewis Edwards Rev and Isabelle Jones. Robert McKendree Edwards married Elizabeth J. Brown on 17 November 1840 at Elbert County, GA.^1,2 Robert McKendree Edwards married Hannah Martin in 1846. Robert McKendree Edwards died after June 1910 at Gwinnett County, GA, USA.

     Robert Purseley Edwards was born on 23 October 1924 at Spalding County, GA, USA. Age 5 6/12 at the 1930 census. DuBose gives only the year.^1,2 He was the son of Lysle Waldermar Edwards and Irene Futrals. Robert Purseley Edwards died on 16 July 2004 at Griffin, Spalding County, GA, USA, at age 79.² He was buried at Midway United Methodist Church Cemetery, at Griffin, Spalding County, GA, USA.

     Robert William Edwards was born on 16 March 1879 at Cartersville, Bartow County, GA, USA.¹ He was the son of William Clarke Edwards and Mattie Melissa Howard. Robert William Edwards died on 24 July 1950 at San Diego County, CA, USA, at age 71.¹ He was buried at Oak Hill Cemetery, at Cartersville, Bartow County, GA, USA.

     Robin Albert Edwards is the son of Richard Albert Edwards and Shirley Fay Dill. Robin Albert Edwards married Lisa Woodall on 26 October 1996 at Birmingham, Jefferson County, AL, USA.¹

     Rosa Belle Edwards was born on 12 August 1913 at Birmingham, Jefferson County, AL, USA. She was the daughter of Pierce Quarles Edwards and Annie Lee Sykes. Rosa Belle Edwards appeared on the census of 1930 at Bowling Green, Warren County, KY, USA. The census lists the family as: Living with aunt Rosa and Neal Valley.. She married William Curtis Billingsley at Jefferson County, AL, USA, on 6 February 1943.¹ Rosa Belle Edwards died on 15 October 1976 at Memphis, Shelby County, TN, USA, at age 63. She was buried at Memorial Park Cemetery, at Memphis, Shelby County, TN, USA. Grave 106, #1.²

     This is the older sister of the Compilers wife Catherine.

     Ruby was born at Macon, Bibb County, GA, USA, in 1904. Death certificate says age 1 at last birthday..¹ She was the daughter of Pierce Quarles Edwards and Annie Lee Sykes. Ruby died on 28 June 1906 at Birmingham, Jefferson County, AL, USA.² She was buried at Elmwood Cemetery, at Birmingham, Jefferson County, AL, USA.³

     Ruby must have been born in Macon as the Macon City Directory has them living at 521 Arch St. in 1904 and at 568 1st St. in 1905. She is buried in a single grave at the Elmwood Cemetery, Birmingham and her death certificate says age 1 year at last birthday.

     Sally Thomas Edwards was born on 30 July 1881 at Elbert County, GA, USA. She was the daughter of Benjamin Fletcher Edwards and Eloid Adeline Arnold. Sally Thomas Edwards died on 8 November 1963 at Clarke County, GA, USA, at age 82.¹ She was buried at Bethlehem Cemetery, at Elberton, Elbert County, GA, USA.

     She remained unmarried.

     Samuel Edwards was born on 7 April 1774 at Wallingford, New Haven County, CT, USA.¹ He was the son of Joseph Edwards and Lucy Jerome. He married Sally Robinson at Syracuse, Onondaga County, NY, USA, on 26 February 1796. Samuel Edwards died on 27 August 1847 at Manlius, Onondaga County, NY, USA, at age 73.¹ He was buried at Fayetteville Cemetery, at Fayetteville, Onondaga County, NY, USA.

     Saphira Edwards was born in 1808 at GA, USA. She was the daughter of Robert Lewis Edwards Rev and Isabelle Jones. Saphira Edwards died on 14 July 1867 at Henry County, GA, USA.

     Sara Louis Edwards is the daughter of Grady Cornelius Edwards and Annie Kate Williams. Sara Louis Edwards married Allen Conway Colin on 26 November 1982 at Montgomery, Montgomery County, AL, USA.

     Sarah Edwards was born on 9 August 1702 at Long Island City, Queens County, NY, USA. She was the daughter of Thomas Edwards and Mercy (Mary) Conkling. She married Janna (Johannes) Hodgkin at East Hampton, Suffolk County, NY, USA, on 25 September 1729. They were married by Rev Nathaniel Huntting, MG..³ Sarah died on 5 July 1753 at Killingworth, Middlesex County, CT, USA, at age 50.⁴ She was buried at Clinton or Indisn River Cemetery, at Clinton, Mtddlesex County, CT, USA.

          Sarah was admitted to the Killingworth First Congregational Church on 18 January 1737/38 according to Church Records, Vol 2, pg 5. Some other incident occurred to have an entry made on 6 May 1753, Vol 2, pg 46.

     Sarah Edwards was born in 1885 at Cobb County, GA, USA. She was the daughter of Joel Simeon Edwards and Laura Camp Hardage. Sarah Edwards died in 1887 at Cobb County, GA.

     Sarah Edwards was born on 5 November 1820 at Edgefield, Edgefield County, SC, USA. She was the daughter of Jared (Jarrot) Edwards and Rebecca Bell. Sarah Edwards died on 12 January 1907 at Edgefield, Edgefield County, SC, at age 86. Sarah was the daughter of Jarrot Edwards and Rebecca Bell of Edgefield County, SC. She is the great-great-granddaughter of Thomas Edwards. She married George Washington Sadler and bore nine children by him (possibly more) before he died from smallpox in 1862 as a Confederate soldier in Mississippi and was buried there in an unmarked, lost grave.

Note: the 1880 census shows Sarah as widowed head of household with three children living with her: Mary, Josephine, and Major. The 1870 census lists Sarah's children as: Thomas 23; Alonzo (?) 19 [this must have been a nephew of Sarah's as there is no other mention of this name in any list]; Mary 17; Josephine (Josie) 15; Elizabeth 12; George (Jr) 12; and Columbus (Robert) 10. Clearly Elizabeth and George Jr are twins. The 1860 census shows the family as they first arrived in AL from SC: George Sr. 52, Sarah 38, Green 14, Thomas 13, Harriett 11, May 10, Joyce (Joicy) 5, George (Jr) & Elizabeth 3, and (Robert) Columbus 1. One Bible record lists George & Sarah's children twice: once including Major and the second time George Jr. So I surmise that Jr was called Major. It also includes May, which could be Mary. No other references to Josephine or Alonzo have been found--unless Joyce/Joice is actually Josephine (Jocie).. She was buried at Ebenezer Methodist Church Cemetery, at Bosworth, Chambers County, AL, USA. Wife of George Washington Sadler.

     Sarah was born at Elbert County, GA, USA, on 26 May 1843. Age 6 at the 1850 census and 24 at the 1870 census.. She was the daughter of John Fletcher Edwards Sr. and Sarah A. E. Rich. Sarah (Sallie) M. Edwards married Joseph Hendrick Parker Colquitt on 10 May 1877 at GA, USA. Sarah (Sallie) M. Edwards died in June 1901 at Elberton, Elbert County, GA, USA, at age 58. She was buried at Elmhurst Cemetery, at Elberton, Elbert County, GA, USA.

     Sarah (Sally) F. Edwards was born in 1848 at Cobb County, GA, USA. She was the daughter of Henry Simeon Edwards and Mary Williford Green. Sarah (Sally) F. Edwards died in 1930 at Marietta, Cobb County, GA, USA.

     Sarah was born at GA, USA, in 1854. She was the daughter of John Clark Edwards and Sarah Elizabeth Ramindy Duncan. Sarah Ann Edwards died in 1930 at Clarke County, GA, USA. She was buried at Old Barnett Shoals Cemetery, at Watkinsville, Oconee County, GA, USA. Wife of John Wesley Center.

     Sarah was born at Birmingham, Jefferson County, AL, USA, on 11 February 1928. She was the daughter of Pierce Quarles Edwards and Annie Lee Sykes. She married Edgar Elwyn Hotchkin at Lansing, Ingham County, MI, USA, on 11 July 1947.¹

Sarah Catherine (Cathy) Edwards died on 24 June 2010 at Pasadena, Los Angeles County, CA, USA, at age 82. Cathy died in the Compilers arms at 5:22 PM after a valiant fight of many years with Progressive Supra-nuclear Palsy. she had bee unable to speak for several years and on a G-tube for feeding for 5 years. I loved her very much..^2,3 She was buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery (Glendale), at Glendale, Los Angeles County, CA, USA.

     The Compilers wife Catherine was born in Birmingham, AL but her family moved to Memphis, TN when she was very young and she grew up in that city. When the Compiler met Catherine, she was known as Kitty but after we were married a few years, I started calling her Cathy and her family and friends now know her by that name. Sarah gets used only on a few legal documents. Cathy was the youngest child in a large family of which only six lived beyond childhood. We have identified 12 births of which two were stillborn; but Cathy has always believed that there were 14 total. She attended Hume High School in Memphis, which has the distinction of being the high school of Elvis Presley; but she says that he was 3 years behind her and she never knew him. Cathy and I met on a blind date in Memphis when I was stationed at Millington Air Base during part of my Navy service. She has been my constant helpmate in our real estate business and in the research of the Hotchkin family.
     In the mid 1990's she started showing signs of a Parkinson-like disease. This was later diagnosed as Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. As it progressed she was unable to move, talk or eat. She has been on G-tube feeding for the last five years. Throughout all of this she has been very strong and brave. She died in my arms with her family and loving Caregivers around her.
     There are many storines to tell about Cathy. She was frugal to the extreme but loved her jewerly and personal care. Her fingernails and hair were always just perfect. Her ear ring collection totalled into the hundreds. Cathy was known for her practical jokes like the time that she set many alarm clocks in a friends motorhome to go off at different hours of the night. During the early days of her illness when it was believed that she had Parkinson's she was on the drug Maripex which is known to cause compulsive behaviors. She would orders hundreds of things from catalogs that I would have to send back. One day at a motorhome outing a rather wide friend bend over a picnic table and she ran into his rear with her 3 wheel scooter.
     She was my love, my best friend and we did everthing together for 63 years.

     Sarah Catherine (Sallie) Edwards was born on 5 March 1864 at Fairmount, Gordon County, GA, USA.¹ She was the daughter of John Fletcher Edwards Jr. and Drucilla Frances (Mary) Quarles. Sarah Catherine (Sallie) Edwards married Jasper Van Buren Robertson on 21 January 1882 at Bartow County, GA, USA. Sarah Catherine (Sallie) Edwards died on 14 August 1894 at Jesup, Wayne County, GA, USA, at age 30.¹ She was buried at Bethlehem Baptist Ch Cemetery, at Jesup, Wayne County, GA, USA.

     Sarah Rebecca Edwards was born in November 1830 at GA, USA. She married James Andrew Turner on 8 January 1846 at Elbert County, GA, USA.¹ Sarah Rebecca Edwards died on 14 August 1911 at Jasper, Pickens County, GA, USA, at age 80.

     Serieta was born at GA, USA, on 28 March 1849. She was the daughter of John Clark Edwards and Sarah Elizabeth Ramindy Duncan. Serieta Elizabeth Edwards died on 10 July 1935 at Greenville, Greenville County, SC, USA, at age 86.

     Shirley Edwards is the daughter of Vines Preston Edwards Jr. and Eva Porter. She married Douglas Ray (Ray) Satterwhite.

     Siscily Ann Edwards was born on 26 January 1819 at Elbert County, GA, USA. She was the daughter of John M. Edwards and Pollie Wotan Pass. Siscily Ann Edwards married Tandy (Sandy) Walker Fitts on 22 August 1838 at Elbert County, GA.¹ Siscily Ann Edwards died on 29 July 1880 at Madison County, GA, USA, at age 61. She was buried at Jones Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery, at Madison County, GA, USA.

     Sonya Lynn Edwards is the daughter of Richard Albert Edwards and Shirley Fay Dill. She married Mark Fuller at Birmingham, Jefferson County, AL, USA, on 11 August 1984. She married Robert (Robb) Michael Gass at Toronto, York County, Ontario, Canada, on 27 November 1992.¹
